LED perimeter boards: the screen that runs around the pitch

LED perimeter boards are the screens installed along the edges of the field of play. Identical modules placed side by side form one continuous screen, which shows sponsors, animations and graphics in sync and changes content with the flow of the match. They are also called LED perimeter banners, LED advertising screens for stadiums or LED advertising boards; when they run along the front of the stands they become ribbon displays.

Perimeter boards and LED advertising screens for football stadiums

In a stadium the perimeter board works outdoors, in sun and rain, and is filmed by television cameras from every angle.

Our outdoor boards are UEFA certified. Electronics and power supplies are redundant, and the control system is redundant too: if one component stops, the show goes on.

Pitch 6: the excellence of perimeter boards

Pitch 6 is the format of the most important stadiums in Europe, and in Italy we run it only at San Siro and at the Stadio Olimpico, on two rows. Two rows of pitch 6 mean more than 11.5 million pixels to manage: more than a 4K image.

The real difference shows on television. In close up shots, when the camera follows a player near the boards, pitch 6 keeps an excellent definition of the image: logos stay sharp, white backgrounds stay even, and digital overlay technologies work at their best.

Perimeter boards for basketball and volleyball

In indoor arenas the indoor perimeter boards, also called indoor LED perimeter banners, stand a step from the court and the crowd: they need a finer pitch, controlled brightness and very fast changes of content. At the Unipol Forum, home of Olimpia Milano, 40 metres of LED perimeter boards run in sync with the central hung.

LED perimeter boards: common questions

Perimeter boards, LED perimeter banners and ribbons: what is the difference?

Perimeter boards, LED perimeter banners and LED advertising boards are the same product: the screens along the edges of the field. A ribbon is the LED band that runs along the front of the stands, higher up. We design and run all of them, also in sync with each other.

What are LED perimeter boards?

They are LED screens installed along the edges of the field of play, made of modules placed side by side. They show sponsors, animations and match information in sync along the whole length.

How long is a perimeter board system?

It depends on the venue. In a football stadium a row is about 250 metres long; in a basketball or volleyball arena it is a few dozen metres, like the 40 metres at the Unipol Forum.

Which pitch should I choose?

For football stadiums the most common formats are pitch 10 and pitch 6. Pitch 6 has more than twice the pixels and keeps the image sharp in close up shots. Indoors finer pitches are used.

Can perimeter boards be rented?

Yes. Besides purchase we offer all inclusive rental with multi year contracts: screens, set up and removal, match day operator, assistance and content support.
